RIGHT-TO-KNOW LAW AND MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS, (MSDS):
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that all individuals using or otherwise coming into contact with chemical materials have access to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for those materials. The MSDS provides pertinent information such as the chemical identity of the product, hazardous ingredients present (according to 29 CFR 1910.1200), physical characteristics, fire and explosion data, reactivity data, handling recommendations/procedures, and personal protection recommendations.
Also, information concerning the presence of Title III Section 313 (Toxic Chemical List) is provided on the MSDS. The importance of the MSDS cannot be over-emphasized. It is the responsibility for the manufacturer to provide MSDS’s to each and every customer.
Currently it is the responsibility of the manufacturer to send out an
MSDS with the first shipment of each year or if a change has been made in the MSDS, a new MSDS is required to be sent immediately to the customer.
